FISHING
The major lakes in North Idaho area are Priest, Hayden, Coeur d'Alene and Pend Oreille. These lakes offer some of the best fishing in the United States. World record dolly varden, rainbow and mackinaw trout have been taken here. Kokanee, cut throat, rainbow, large-mouth bass and other game fish are prevalent in Lake Coeur d'Alene as well as in many of the other North Idaho lakes. Chinook Salmon up to 41 pounds have been caught in Lake Coeur d'Alene. Plus the flyfishing on the Coeur d,Alene, St Joe, and Clearwater River is world class.
GOLFING
Golfing is very popular in North Idaho. The courses are not crowded and in most cases the green fees are very reasonable. Local golf courses are: Hayden Lake Country Club Golf Course, Avondale-On-Hayden Golf & Tennis Club, Coeur d'Alene Municipal Golf Course, The Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course, The Highlands Golf & Country Club, Stoneridge Golf Course and Twin Lakes Golf Course.
HUNTING, BACKPACKING, CAMPING
North Idaho, with its vast forest and mountain area, offers good big-game hunting, including mule and white-tail deer, elk, moose, big horn sheep, mountain goat, cougar, and black bear. The region's wilderness areas with numerous mountain lakes, rivers and streams provide ample opportunities for back packing and camping.
SKIING AND SNOWMOBILING
Within a 60 mile radius of Hayden Lake are six major areas: Schweitzer Ski Area, Mt. Spokane Ski Bowl, Silver Mountain Ski Area, White Water Ski Resort, Lookout Pass Ski Basin, and 49 Degrees North Ski Resort. Hundreds of miles of Forest Service roads are groomed and set aside just for snowmobiling during winter months.
