Welcome > Local Info > Fun Things to Do ...

FISHING

The major lakes in North Idaho area are Priest, Hayden, Coeur d'Alene and Pend Oreille. These lakes offer some of the best fishing in the United States. World record dolly varden, rainbow and mackinaw trout have been taken here. Kokanee, cut throat, rainbow, large-mouth bass and other game fish are prevalent in Lake Coeur d'Alene as well as in many of the other North Idaho lakes. Chinook Salmon up to 41 pounds have been caught in Lake Coeur d'Alene. Plus the flyfishing on the Coeur d,Alene, St Joe, and Clearwater River is world class.

GOLFING

Golfing is very popular in North Idaho. The courses are not crowded and in most cases the green fees are very reasonable. Local golf courses are: Hayden Lake Country Club Golf Course, Avondale-On-Hayden Golf & Tennis Club, Coeur d'Alene Municipal Golf Course, The Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course, The Highlands Golf & Country Club, Stoneridge Golf Course and Twin Lakes Golf Course.

HUNTING, BACKPACKING, CAMPING

North Idaho, with its vast forest and mountain area, offers good big-game hunting, including mule and white-tail deer, elk, moose, big horn sheep, mountain goat, cougar, and black bear. The region's wilderness areas with numerous mountain lakes, rivers and streams provide ample opportunities for back packing and camping.

SKIING AND SNOWMOBILING

Within a 60 mile radius of Hayden Lake are six major areas: Schweitzer Ski Area, Mt. Spokane Ski Bowl, Silver Mountain Ski Area, White Water Ski Resort, Lookout Pass Ski Basin, and 49 Degrees North Ski Resort. Hundreds of miles of Forest Service roads are groomed and set aside just for snowmobiling during winter months.

Real Estate Tips
Selling Your Home >Playing It Safe

Conduct a thorough check for any safety hazards when you are getting your house ready to put on the market. You may be accustomed to the worn tread on the stairs, toys in the hallway, or closets that deposit their contents at your feet when the door is opened, but strangers won't be as intuitive as you are. They will be vulnerable to those little "hazards" as they walk through your home, turning on the faucets, opening closet doors, and going up and down the stairs.

The stairs are a good place to begin your safety check. Could someone tall accidentally bang their head on a beam, pipe or the ceiling as they go up or down? Is the carpeting on the stairs securely fastened? An area rug should have a non-slip mat underneath.

Safety is important because someone who is injured in your home could sue you for damages. This doesn't happen often, but if it does, it can be extremely unpleasant. "Better safe than sorry" applies to homes as well--especially when they are for sale and open to visits from potential buyers.
